Sherlock Holmes: The Sign of Four (1932)

Arthur Wontner made his third of five screen appearances as Sherlock Holmes in this witty and fast-paced adaptation of the Arthur Conan Doyle novel. A young woman’s puzzling inheritance, a sinister peg-legged man and his Pygmy sidekick, a boat chase down the Thames and a romance for Watson all stem from the mystery surrounding "the Sign of Four."
