Hallelujah! (1929)

Shot on location in Tennessee, this groundbreaking drama was the first all-black feature from a major studio and quite controversial when it was released. The story concerns a man who becomes a preacher but realizes he is all too human when tragedy strikes. King Vidor’s daring film stars Daniel L. Haynes and Nina Mae McKinney.
